With the emergence of highly contagious mutant strains, many staff members and hospitalized patients were infected. To share the concept of“testing” and“isolation”among the frontline staff, infection control team, and hospital management department, we have introduced“risk category classification”.［Methods］Contacts of the first infected person were classified into seven categories based on the risk of infection. Those in categories 4,5 and 6 who are at high risk of infection will be subject to work restrictions, while those in categories 2 and below will work normally. Those in category 3 were determined by the hospital management department with the necessity of work continuity. [Results］From January to June 2022 (6th wave), the number of confirmed infections was 40 for staff and 3 for patients. There were 12 (27.9%) of secondary infection cases with 27 people. In 27 secondary infected people, 15 (55.6%) were detected by the primary screening test and 9 (33.3%) were detected by the secondary screening test before the onset of symptoms. All cases with secondary infection were initially determined as category 2 or higher, suggesting the validity of this strategy.
