Kawasaki Medical School provides the recommended entrance examination for third-year students and students who failed the entrance examinations and then re-attempted a year later for admission to Kawasaki Medical School. We formulated a program for pre-entrance education to the students who passed the recommended entrance examination and decided to enter Kawasaki Medical School. Efforts were introduced from 2011 to 2015 through a program entitled“Inspection and evaluation of high school cooperation 2016.”This study aims to confirm and evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program by conducting a questionnaire survey with students from 2016 to 2018. The program was implemented within school settings for 4 weeks in 2016 and 2017 and 3 weeks in 2018 at the high school and the medical school. In high school, teachers per subject conducted experiments, presentation techniques, surveys, and literature summaries. At the medical school, faculty of general liberal arts and basic medical sciences as well as those who were in charge of the first-year classes conducted project-based learning and experiments, as well as lessons, practical training, and exercises. After the program, the questionnaire survey was conducted with students (n = 20, 21, and 19 in 2016, 2017, and 2018, respectively). Analysis was further conducted to verify and evaluate the educational effect of the program. The result indicated that 70%–88% students answered that they could perform well or reasonably well in high school while 76%–88% of students said that for medical school. Based on the free-form answers on their impression about the program, the students positively accepted the objectives of the program, such as experiencing group learning, experiencing fun in research (experiments), and acquiring the ability to express your thoughts. The responses suggested that the students felt the content of the program for medical schools was difficult. However, they acquired the basics of learning considered necessary after entering medical school and established their image after entering medical school. Moreover, the program increased their motivation to become doctors.
